Wow, what a week. My university job is super busy right now and I had foolishly signed up to be on three committees, all of which had deadlines in the past month, pretty much back to back. Today is the final deadline for this round, so whew!
I also went back to Twitter and started poking around and boom, just like that, two hours gone; for me and my distractible brain, Twitter is a difficult set of interactions to manage, so I’ll have to figure out a better process for that. Long time ago writer and game designer Jordan Mechner told me that his secret is “no internet before noon” and for while I was doing that on writing days; it was marvelous. I might need to go back to that. Jordan is amazingly prolific and surely he’s on to something.
This week my cashmere slippers came and I have worn them nearly every minute at home. They are soft and cozy and also very low profile. My last slippers were so glitzy and while they were fun, ultimately I decided they were not for me. These are perfect and they go with my Patagonia recycled cashmere hoodie that I am obsessed with.
I tried watching Umbrella Academy but the first scene was too horrifying. A spontaneous pregnancy? Ugh, no thank you. Also aside from Ellen Page there’s no one in the cast who seems like they’d be able to hold my interest long. It’s almost worth slogging through for Ellen Page! But life’s too short to waste on bad TV shows, especially when I’m supposed to be writing! Because yes, I have a deadline to get this damn MS finished by SUNDAY. Wish me luck.
