Game Design

I’m passionate about systems literacy, which game design teaches, and its importance in contemporary and future culture and society. I’m an evangelist for games in the sense that I believe games education is for everybody, not just professional game developers!

I specialize in creating educational content that is accessible to all. There’s a special place in my heart for reaching writers and artists and crafters and makers who don’t consider themselves “technical” because game design really is for everyone. You don’t have to know code to understand its principles.

The class I taught for seven years at USC, Game Design Workshop, was founded on this idea. I’ve given many lectures and talks to groups like advertising and marketing firms, educational institutions, art students, and the like, translating systems design and introducing them to the language of interactivity.
