Off to Rural Canada

Today we’re heading up north. D’s parents live on Vancouver Island, on a hobby farm in Comox Valley. They keep horses and a stunning vegetable garden on 25 acres of gorgeous greenery and two greenhouses. It’s a vegetarian’s paradise. I’ve been looking forward to this trip for weeks now. The weather should be gorgeous, and there are a lot of chores to do around the farm, which gives us a chance to be physical and get some fresh air. I find it’s a great antidote to sitting at a computer all day.

And we’ll take the dog with us, who loves to chase the rabbits. I have a slight worry about the eagles (the dog weighs a slight six pounds), but D assures me that it’s not eagle season right now. (Apparently they become a problem during the salmon run, when they like to hang out near the creek that goes by the house to pick up fresh fish.)

And in between all that fresh air and vegetarian cooking, I’m planning to get cranking on finishing a couple of writing projects, too. A change of scenery is just the thing to kick the creative brain into high gear!
